In 2015, Co-founder of iCreate Inc. International, Nicoya Ingram returned to her hometown Freeport, Grand Bahama to attend her Grandmother’s funeral. She then met Bishop Marvin Weech, the pastor of Bible Teachers International. His ministry had been active serving the needs of people in the community. From there, a relationship with Bishop Weech and BTI was formed to support the great work his ministry was doing on the island.
In 2016, in the aftermath of the Category 4 Hurricane Matthew iCreate was ready to jump in and support the people devastated by the storm. iCreate through the “It Takes a Village Project” began a hurricane relief project to collect and deliver personal hygiene items, clothing and non-perishable food items to Freeport. Through the support of organizations around Atlanta including Beulah Heights University this goal was accomplished. We were able to assist Bible Teachers International in serving over 200 families in the community with food, clothing and supplies donated by our partners. In 2018 we returned to Freeport to host workshops providing leadership and life skills training to students. On this trip we were able to connect with the Reach Out Youth Organization and the International Creative Arts Network, two organizations that serve hundreds of youth on Grand Bahama.

On September 3 thru September 5, 2019, the Bahamian Islands of Grand Bahamas and Abaco were ravaged by Hurricane Dorian, one of the strongest most long lived storms on record. This storm caused devastation to thousands with many losing everything. In October 2019 we will be returning to deliver much needed supplies, food and hygiene items to deliver to our partners in Grand Bahama to help with the immediate needs they have there. Upon our return we will be preparing for multiple visits throughout the coming months and years to deliver more physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aid.

The Mission

We along with a team of volunteers will be conducting a fact-finding trip in Grand Bahama to assess the immediate needs of the people that were affected directly by Hurricane Dorian. We will work alongside our partners, Bible Teachers International and Reach Out now and for future trips to aid the communities that suffered severe damages and losses. After the fact-finding trip is complete, we will provide a report to enumerate and highlight the most important urgent needs. This report will be used to shape a long-term plan to raise and distribute further resources to further our work in this area of disaster.
